Menditech’s fibre optics sensor solutions represent a disruptive technology that has reached the perfect maturity point for industrial application.
It is a young technology with distinctive characteristics that remain unknown to many industry players. In fact, it can solve problems that other technologies have not been able to address.
After decades of researching how external elements affect light propagation in fibre optics, at Menditech, we have developed a technology based on fundamentally different principles compared to conventional sensors, such as electrical ones, making it highly attractive for applications where there was previously no viable alternative.
Our fibre optics sensors use the fibre itself to measure the parameter of interest and transmit the information. An optical fibre transducer converts the physical parameter into a variation of light that propagates through the fibre, which is connected to the sensor interrogator. This interrogator detects the light propagation variations produced by the parameter of interest. This allows for the measurement of changes in magnitudes such as temperature, strain, pressure, vibrations, displacement, acceleration, etc.
The advantages of our fibre optics sensors lie in their sensitivity, size, and ability to operate in extreme environments: they are dielectric, compact, immune to electromagnetic interference, have a high response speed, are lightweight, flexible, etc. Moreover, their high multiplexing capacity allows for the integration of multiple sensors in a single cable.
These distinctive characteristics are precisely the key that enables us to design customized applications tailored to the specific needs of each client, providing innovative and efficient solutions for current industry.
